Colors in German

Colors are some of the first words you'll use in German. Most German color words are adjectives — they describe a noun (ein rotes Auto = a red car).

Learn the base word first; the adjective endings come later.

💡 Tip: a few colors — orange, rosa (pink), lila (purple) — never change their ending, unlike rot/blau/grün. And note that 'weiß' (white) is spelled with ß.
